Katsina community reels from attack: Five killed, five kidnapped

The attack occurred on Monday at around midnight.

Gunmen attacked Sayaya village in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State, Nigeria, killing five people, injuring two others, and kidnapping five more, police said.

The attack occurred on Monday at around midnight. The bandits, who were armed with AK-47 rifles, opened fire on the village, causing residents to flee for safety.

A police spokesperson Abubakar Aliyu said when police officers arrived at the scene, they engaged the bandits in a gun duel.

The police are currently investigating the incident and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

This is not the first time that bandits have attacked villages in Katsina State. In recent years, there have been a number of similar attacks, in which so-called bandits have killed and injured villagers and kidnapped others.

The government has deployed troops to Katsina state to help protect the villagers, but attacks have continued.
