Man charged in Tupac Shakur’s death over 25 years after

A man has been charged with the killing of the American rapper Tupac Shakur, more than 25 years after his death.

Investigators identified the man as Duane Keith Davis, the same individual who has spoken publicly for years about having witnessed the drive-by shooting of the singer.

Shakur, a talented hip-hop performer, was killed in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas. He died less than a week later in hospital after being shot four times.

Davis has said in interviews and a memoir that he was in the passenger seat of the white Cadillac that pulled up near the vehicle holding Shakur on a night in 1996.

He was indicted Davis on one count of murder with use of a deadly weapon and with the intent to promote, further or assist a criminal gang, a prosecutor said in court on Friday, confirming earlier reporting by the Associated Press that Davis was in custody.

The case remained unsolved for more than two decades, but was revived in July when the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department executed a search warrant at a home in Henderson, Nev., that was connected to Davis.
