Multichoice allows Nigeria customers pay old DSTV rates till 2024

The offer means instead of N24,500, premium subscribers will continue to pay N21,000.

Pay TV provider, Multichoice, says it will allow customers in Nigeria pay old rates for DSTV packages till next year, months after announcing higher rates.

In April, the South African company raised prices of its bouquets in Nigeria by at least 16%, blaming inflation and other economic conditions.

Satellite television customers complained as the new rates, following three hikes since 2020, placed additional burden on utility budgets at a time of high inflation in Nigeria.

– Locked prices

The company said last week customers who pay before the expiration of their subscriptions each month will retain old rates till March 31, 2024.

“Lock in your subscription and save. Beat the price review and enjoy your current subscription price till 31st March 2024,” it said in message to customers. “All you need to do, is to avoid getting your subscription disconnected.”

The offer means instead of N24,500, premium subscribers will continue to pay N21,000. Compact Plus users will pay N14,200 instead of N16,600 while Compact subscribers will continue to pay N9,000 rather than N10,500.

For Confam, the company said it will continue to charge N5,300 rather than N6,200; N2950 instead of N3,500 for Yanga. Padi subscribers will pay N1,850 and not N2,500 if they stay connected.
