Cadbury Nigeria appoints new managing director

Cadbury Nigeria Plc has appointed Ayman Hussein F. Gaafar, also known as Ayman Fahmy, as its new managing director, effective May 15.

The company disclosed the appointment in a regulatory filing to Nigerian Exchange Limited, stating that the decision followed a recommendation by the Governance and Risk Committee of the board.

Cadbury said the board had approved Mr. Gaafar’s appointment and expressed confidence in his leadership as the company seeks to strengthen its operations in Nigeria’s fast-moving consumer goods sector.

Mr. Gaafar brings extensive multinational experience spanning strategy, commercial leadership, market expansion, and business transformation. He has worked with global consumer goods companies including Procter & Gamble, Reckitt Benckiser, Danone and Shan Foods.

According to the company, he has managed operations across the Middle East, Africa, the Levant, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Canada, overseeing profit-and-loss responsibilities, go-to-market strategies, and organisational transformation initiatives.

Cadbury described him as a business leader with a track record of driving revenue growth, expanding market reach, building organisational capacity, and leading large and diverse teams.

The appointment also marks the end of the tenure of Folake Ogundipe as interim managing director.

Mrs. Ogundipe had served in the role since December 2025 following a transition period at the company. Cadbury commended her leadership during the period, saying she provided stability and strategic direction for the business.

“Throughout her tenure, Mrs. Ogundipe has exhibited exceptional leadership, characterised by steadfast dedication, deep commitment, and admirable resilience,” the company said in the notice.
