BUA Foods Plc to boost pasta production capacity by 400,000mtpa

The company will add nine new lines of long-cut pasta.

BUA Foods Plc has announced a significant expansion of its pasta production capacity.

The company said it has signed an agreement with FAVA, an Italian pasta equipment manufacturing giant, to add nine new lines of long-cut pasta, increasing its annual production capacity by 400,000 metric tonnes to a total of 900,000MTpa.

The company also signed a complementary agreement with Martini, another Italian firm, to supply packaging equipment. Additionally, a strategic partnership with Cukurova Silo from Turkey will boost BUA Foods’ grain storage capacity by 100,000 tonnes.

Abdul Samad Rabiu, Chairman of BUA Foods, emphasized the importance of this expansion in supporting Nigeria’s development.

“Our manufacturing capacity expansion will continue to enable us to extend the boundaries of what we can produce and deliver, supporting our nation’s development by providing solutions to ongoing food shortages,” Mr Rabiu stated.

He also highlighted that the increased grain storage capacity would ensure a reliable supply of raw materials, meeting the growing demand for their products.

The project follows a recent agreement with IMAS, a Turkish flour milling equipment manufacturer, to construct four state-of-the-art wheat and flour milling factories. This will boost BUA Foods’ milling capacity to 2.5 million MTpa, further solidifying its position as a leader in the food industry.
