Elon Musk is intensifying efforts to attract users to X Premium, the subscription service formerly dubbed Twitter Blue, by lowering the eligibility criteria for its ad-share revenue programme.
In a bid to increase participation, the minimum requirements have been drastically reduced.
Subscribers now need only premium subscription, 5 million impressions within the last three months, and a follower count of 500. The minimum payment threshold has been slashed to a mere $10. The payout threshold was formerly $50.
Previously, to qualify for monetization, users subscribed to X Premium were mandated to accumulate a total of 15 million impressions over the preceding three months.

Elon Musk endorsed the changes through his personal account, adding that qualifying users would essentially receive X Premium for “free” if their earnings exceeded the $8 monthly subscription fee.
The creator monetization initiative was initially introduced by Musk in February. Progress on the program had been sluggish for months until mid-July, when payments began reaching a select few users.
Last week, content creators and social media influencers in Nigeria started receiving their first payout from X which it started in some other countries last month.
Monetization calculations remain elusive, with Musk himself indicating that it’s “not exactly per impression.”
How to join
To join, eligible users can access the monetization section within the app’s side menu on iOS and Android, or the web’s overflow menu.
Clicking “Join and setup payouts” redirects to Stripe for payout setup. Process of payments and transfer of earnings to local bank accounts is managed from the Stripe account provided earnings exceed $50 USD.
