Tech billionaire Elon Musk has announced his plan to launch TruthGPT, an artificial intelligence tool that will rival Microsoft-owned ChatGPT and Google’s Bard, saying the chatbot will be “a maximum truth-seeking AI.”

The idea behind TruthGPT is to create a chatbot that can help people find the truth in a world where fake news and misinformation are rampant, Musk said.
“I’m going to start something which is called TruthGPT, or an absolute truth-seeking Artificial Intelligence (AI) that tries to understand the nature of the universe,” Musk, owner of Twitter and Telsa, told Fox News host, Tucker Carlson, on Monday.
He said TruthGPT will be programmed to be an absolute truth-speaking AI that will understand the nature of humans. He accused Microsoft of “training the AI to lie”.
Musk said he believed it will be the best step to take with regard to safety because AI has the potential to end civilization.
“I think this might be the best path to safety, in the sense that an AI that cares about understanding the universe. It is unlikely to annihilate humans because we are an interesting part of the universe,” he said.

It is not Musk’s first foray into the AI environment. He was one of the co-founders of OpenAI, the parent of the popular ChatGPT, in 2015. The group aimed to create a non-profit focused on developing artificial intelligence that will likely benefit humanity as a whole.
OpenAI received $100 million from Musk. In 2019, the company switched to a “capped profit” model and now has a private valuation of approximately $30 billion and counts Microsoft as a major investor.
Musk left its board citing a conflict of interest and has become a staunch critic of the platform ever since he left the company in 2018.
Last month, Musk joined more than 1000 people to call for a six-month pause on advanced AI development, saying he does not want Open AI to create a more toxic version than it has just released; GPT-4.
“AI is more dangerous than, say, mismanaged aircraft design or production maintenance or bad car production,” he said.
