10 students abducted in Kaduna, government says

The incident happened at a secondary school in Kachia.

At least 10 students have been abducted in Kaduna state, the state government announced on Tuesday.

The attack took place in Kachia local government area.

Samuel Aruwan, the commissioner for internal security and home affairs, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Tuesday in Kaduna, the News Agency of Nigeria reported.

Mr Aruwan said the incident involved the kidnapping of approximately 10 students of Government Secondary School, Awon, a day secondary school on Monday.

He said more detailed reports are expected soon and will clarify whether the incident occurred on the school premises or elsewhere.

Kaduna has experienced a significant level of violence and insecurity in recent years. There have been numerous incidents of attacks, kidnappings, and killings by bandits and other criminal groups in the state.

The attacks in Kaduna have targeted both civilians and security personnel, and have resulted in the displacement of many people from their homes. In some cases, the attackers have specifically targeted schools and abducted students, causing significant concern and outrage.
