The suspensions were announced on Friday but the opposition party on Tuesday replaced its national chairman Iyiorchia Ayu after prolonged internal crisis.

Mr Ayu was removed on Sunday in what the party characterized as “stepping aside”.

The statement said the NWC, under the new interim chairman, recognized the necessity of total reconciliation among party leaders for a more cohesive party, in the interest of its members and Nigerians in general.

The party said it was focused on its legal case against the declaration of Bola Tinubu as Nigeria’s president-elect.
